Career Development in a Scientific Ecosystem – Research, Transfer and Outreach
In times of multiple crises, decreasing funding, and politically challenging developments, universities more than ever need to acknowledge the acute urgency of joining forces and more deliberately exploite the full potential of their research ecosystem along with their regional, national and international partners.
Scientific collaborations of the future will have to overcome long-established boundaries between institutions, disciplines and sectors, and become more equitable and inclusive to achieve comprehensive results. Academia, industry, policymakers and society need to find co-designed future solutions and interventions to societal problems. In response, institutions interconnect their high-profile research, wide range of transfer activities, and supportive governance and administration activities in collaborative ecosystems.
Researchers in the early career phase might find it demanding to integrate into such collaborative ecosystems – especially when joining a new university. In this session experts will discuss the challenges and chances of this new way to organize science. Through the demonstration of best practice examples and an open discussion on how to create an impact not only within a university but an entire scientific ecosystem, we will entice participants to see the value and benefits of this increasingly popular approach.
