HAW-Pitch: Paths to Professorships at German Universities of Applied Sciences (GAIN26)
Thousands of professorships at German Universities of Applied Sciences (UAS) will open in the coming years. This session highlights concrete career opportunities, particularly for postdocs in research. Early-career professors will pitch their journeys, offering firsthand insights into becoming and being a UAS professor. Key topics include: the role of strong industry and societal connections on the way to professorship, the role of research, international collaborations, how individual backgrounds fit into and shape the nature and structure of the professorships, as well as topics as student engagement, work-life balance and more. University leaders will outline expectations for future faculty, and of non-academic experience. You’ll also learn about qualification pathways and support programs that support your journey to professorship at a university of applied sciences.
This session is open to PhD students and postdocs of all nationalities, and includes an extensive Q&A.
