How to Successfully Compete for Tenure-Track Professorships in Germany

With the Tenure-Track Programme, the German Federal Government and the Länder have made decisive changes to university personnel structures in Germany. With a total of 1,000 tenure-track professorships funded at 75 universities nationwide, the program has established a permanent and internationally attractive career path while also facilitating a structural and cultural change at German universities. The workshops offer the opportunity to interact directly with German tenure-track professors and university leaders to find out more about the advantages of, and requirements for, this novel career path. The focus will be on the benefits of the tenure-track professorship in Germany as well as on questions regarding the application and appointment process, the status, progress and evaluation of tenure-track professorships, and the compatibility of family and career priorities.
