Figuring Out What’s Next: A Career Design Workshop for Postdocs (GAIN26)

Postdocs face high-stakes career decisions with limited time, incomplete information, and almost no formal support. This workshop is designed to fill that gap.
Drawing on Design Thinking methodology and frameworks from psychology and behavioral science, this hands-on session gives you a structured, evidence-based process for figuring out what you want and building a realistic path to get there.
The session opens with a brief introduction to a few key ideas, then moves quickly into structured exercises — working individually and with others — designed to produce concrete outputs you can actually use. Whether you feel overwhelmed by too many options or constrained by too few, this workshop is for postdocs who are approaching a decision point and want to navigate it more deliberately. Come ready to work. No prior familiarity with Design Thinking is required.
