A Professorship Without AI – Is That Still Possible? (GAIN26 Digital)
AI is exerting a multifaceted influence on universities and society. In research, AI methods offer an alternative approach alongside established theoretical and experimental techniques, enabling the identification of new relationships and the generation of predictions based on existing data. The continued development of AI algorithms and the application of AI methods to new fields hold the potential to drive major breakthroughs in knowledge across other scientific disciplines as well. In the realm of teaching, both pedagogical methods and curricula must be re-evaluated to address the challenges posed by AI and to harness its potential—particularly through more personalized teaching approaches. Despite the profound impact of AI methods on research and education, their effects on politics, the economy, and society will have even more far-reaching consequences.
