Deutsches Zentrum für Herz-Kreislauf-Forschung e.V. (DZHK)/ Deutsche Zentren der Gesundheitsforschung (DZG):
The DZHK was established in 2012 on the initiative of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and is the biggest Centre for Cardiovascular Diseases in Germany. Our aim is to promote basic research and quickly translate them into clinical application. This is why the DZHK brings together outstanding basic and clinical researchers from seven partner sites in Germany to develop new therapies and diagnostic procedures for cardiovascular diseases.
In addition to the DZHK, there are six more German Centers for Health Research (DZG). The goal is to develop new therapies for diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, infectious, pulmonary, neurodegenerative diseases and mental disorders. The centers bring together non-university research and university partner institutions from all over Germany to ensure that research results reach medical care and thus patients more quickly.
