The Virtual GAIN20: Science Slam

The first virtual GAIN Science Slam took place on August 28, 2020, as part of the virtual GAIN20 Conference. Dr. Martin R. Lichtenthaler and Dr. Aline Gottlieb from the GAIN Advisory Board hosted the Science Slam.

Seven international researchers from various fields presented their findings in a five-minute pitch in front of the virtual audience; touching on topics such as protons, cardiac muscle cells, social inequality, self-driving cars, and many more, all to impart current research results to a diverse audience understandably and entertainingly.

The virtual GAIN audience voted for the best slammer.

This year’s winner is Dr. Martin Skrodzki from RIKEN iTHEMS with his slam on self-driving cars. As the best slammer, he received a cash prize of $3,000, proudly presented by the German Center for Research and Innovation (DWIH).
