Start-up-Pitch GAIN Award 2018

Presentation of Ideas – Discussion of Ideas – Realization of Ideas

We want your start-up ideas! Present your start-up pitch at GAIN 18 and win the GAIN Award 2018: a week of mentoring and coaching on a German campus!

Whether it’s in the life sciences, IT, humanities and social sciences, material sciences or natural sciences – the start-up call is for all areas of research!

Send us your pitch in English using Pitch Deck presentation format by June 28, 2018 to Carina-Rebecca Pansch:

A jury will choose the candidates in July for the Final at GAIN18 in Boston. The judging criteria will focus on the following: (1) the vision of the founders (2) the quality of the presentation, (3) a targeted solution to the problem, (4) whether the start-up is grounded in research (5) the future business model. Six presenters will be chosen and nominated for the GAIN Award 2018.

At GAIN18 the finalists will have five minutes time to do the following: Persuasively present the start-up idea in a clear and understandable format for both the judges and the public. The jury will then have five minutes to ask questions of the presenters.

The GAIN Award 2018 is an interactive and equal-opportunity format. The three universities that are offering the prizes —  the University of Potsdam, the Technical University of Dortmund and the RWTH Aachen – will present the prizes.

The jury will privately deliberate and select the prize winners. On Sunday at 12pm the prize-winners will be announced by the jury and the GAIN Award 2018 will be presented.

Attractive Prize

The three first-place winners of the GAIN Award 2018 will win one week of intensive start-up mentoring and coaching at a university in Germany for one person – travels costs, room, and board are all included.

The start-up idea will be further developed during the week at the campus. The universities will offer an individualized week-long program. The university leaders, academic experts and entrepreneurs, start-up mentors and businesses within the region will intensively discuss the next steps with the prize-winners, providing constructive feedback and analysis of the business model. A campus mentor will accompany the presenters for the entire week to ensure that optimal results are achieved. The GAIN18 start-up will transition into the realization phase.
